Evolution of the EC Waste brand

EC Waste originated in Humacao, Puerto Rico in 1961 as El Coquí Waste Disposal. In 1995 El Coqui Waste Disposal became EC Waste. EC Waste absorbed all the knowledge, technology, and resources through merging with the top environmental service providers such as Waste Management and Republic Services. As the oldest environmental service provider on the island, we have evolved with every environmental enhancing regulation and technological development. EC Waste is proud to be over 60 years strong in Puerto Rico.

In 2024, EC Waste is the employer of almost 400 people. We are proud to employ a local, skilled and talented workforce that has been trained by the two leading waste companies in the United States. Hence, today EC Waste carries the knowledge, work ethic and determination of the Puerto Rico’s workforce molded by the experience, organization and expertise of the two largest leading waste companies in the world.

Company Infrastructure

EC Waste is comprised of a network of solid waste collection and disposal facilities. We are able to offer operational, management and financial resources to our customers that are immediately available with an uncompromised focus on exceptional customer experience.
